Patriotism is the dignity of the homeland, loyalty and devotion to it. Whoever ignores, fails to acknowledge, appreciate and preserve it does not respect the homeland, nor does he offer it love and protection; he is a traitor.
The nation has a major essential responsibility and it is the duty of every individual to do their utmost to achieve the best national performance in order to preserve its progress, civilization and ensure its safety. Patriotism is a precious gift whose value is immeasurable in terms of effort and sacrifice for the sake of the homeland.
Nationalism has absolute democratic freedom to enact the necessary laws to save the homeland and protect its land and laws from corruption, crime, and the danger of its disintegration and loss. There is no liberty or alternative to patriotism above the liberty, democracy and honour of the homeland. The interest of the homeland is the first interest before all foreign interests that destroy patriotism and harm citizens by undermining laws and the economy and controlling their dignity and freedom.
From the true patriotism the army was created out because it is the honour and dignity of the nation. It was created to make sacrifices and be martyred in protecting and preserving its democratic parliament with pride, liberty and integrity. Nationalism must play its humanitarian role in helping its citizens and providing them with a comfortable life and meeting their needs because they exert effort and service in the life of the nation.
True patriotism should not discriminate among its loyal citizens except in cases of competence, ability to accomplish work and loyalty, so that the nation remains strong and developed in an era of change and progress. It must also be vigilant in protecting the homeland from corruption and plotting conspiracies to harm and dismantle the homeland for selfish personal interests. It has a necessary duty to be independent and have sufficient resources to produce and meet its needs instead of depending on other countries.
Every nation needs genuine patriotism, and its duty is to teach rising generations to love their country, respect its laws, and be loyal to its preservation. Through patriotism and democracy, society unites and supports its army so that it may remain free under its eternal banner with pride and dignity. With a spirit of genuine patriotism, nations are built, and the citizen’s heart becomes attached to the love of the homeland, striving for its success and prosperity. When it comes to defending the homeland, you will find that the love of the loyal citizen for the dignity of his land surpasses the defence of the foreign mercenary because he feels that his body is part of the body of the homeland.
The foreign countries that have invaded and continue to invade the lands of peaceful nations, after a period of occupation and subjugation of their peoples, eventually withdrew from the national struggle in disappointment, they folded their tails between their legs, leaving behind shame, disgrace and heavy losses in the lives of their soldiers.
No invading human being has the right to rule and enslave another peaceful, free human being on his land, by imposing customs, punishments, laws and worship that contradict his freedom, his culture and choices; no matter how long the time and how many generations pass. Love of country is the pulse of its soul and its liberty, and ultimately, the invader will be forced to submit and leave, leaving the land to its people, its liberty and its destiny.
True patriotism involves a positive democratic discussion into the fate of the nation, to preserve its liberty and develop it in all fields, to keep pace with modern advanced nations and achieve prosperity for its citizens. The danger to genuine patriotism is its internal, selfish, treacherous enemy among the citizens who want to destroy the homeland for their own benefit and the benefit of the stranger. Countries that turn a blind eye to their internal enemy are helping it to strengthen itself and will face a dangerous crisis in saving the homeland and its safety from its evil.
The majority of rulers of countries throughout history have been harmed by their internal enemy, who acted out of envy, hatred, and cooperation with the interests of foreigners. Among them are King Philip, father of Alexander the Great, Darius King of Persia; The genius, brave, immortal commander Hannibal; Julius Caesar; Napoleon Bonaparte; Tsar Alexander II of Russia and later Tsar Nicholas II; US President Abraham Lincoln and President John F. Kennedy; the Shah of Iran; The immortal, peaceful, martyred man, Mahathir Gandhi; Prime Minister of Lebanon, Riad al-Solh; President of Lebanon, Bashir Gemayel; King Faisal of Saudi Arabia; Egyptian President Anwar Sadat; Prime Minister of modern Israel Yitzhak Rabin; President of Iraq Saddam Hussein, etc.
The national forces, under orders from the supreme command, advanced to the battlefield to defeat the enemy, achieve victory, and protect the homeland. After accomplishing the mission, the national forces returned with mutilated bodies and lost precious, irreplaceable lives, but they were convinced that they will live a decent life that would guarantee the future of the citizens. After a period of time in old age, patriotism lost national pillars who dedicated their lives to protecting and developing the homeland. The political situation has changed, and the rising generations have begun to mock patriotism and accept strangers to support them in their electoral centres under the pretext of human rights and political asylum, all these claims are lies and conspiracies against the homeland. Over time, the pretending foreigners, under the pretext of human rights and political asylum, began to rebel against the laws of the homeland with gangs run by murderous criminals. They exploit social security benefits, attack and kill citizens of the host country. They demand that the ruling authorities should amend their laws to suit their customs and cultures as in the countries they left.
The retired citizen who returned from the war and is now old age watches on television what his country is going through at the hands of foreign criminals and their tyranny over the citizens. Fear began to spread in his community in place of security because of the treacherous politicians who abandoned patriotism, the national interest, and the preservation of the community’s civilization. The retired citizen asks himself, with a tear in his eye: Is this our reward, after our sacrifices and the martyrdom of my fellow citizens in defending freedom and the dignity of the homeland that foreign criminals should act with their deviant deeds, break the laws, threaten the citizen and we reach the law of the jungle? All the sacrifices we made, the loss of lives and the wasted time have become worthless today.
True patriotism must be carefully monitored and cleansed of corruption and conspiracies in order for the nation to remain safe and free under the banner of its liberty.
