Where did the idea of democracy come from or how did it develop and change some countries’ civilizations and put them in the forefronts?
The idea of democracy came from the first parliament in the world built by the Lebanese Canaanites Phoenicians in the city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon and was born and developed in Greece.
The First Parliament in World History
But we do not forget that the Canaanite – Lebanese – Phoenicians were the first people in history who established and built a parliament in their city of Tripolis in northern Lebanon – Phoenicia before the rest of the East Mediterranean world, for important people to gather in it to deliberate and discuss their affairs without knowing and developing democracy, as the Greeks did later at the hands of the geniuses of their immortal philosophers. See the historian Diodorus Siculus was living in the first century B.C.
This proves to us that the Lebanese – Phoenicians did not give serious attention to the development of science and matters of global political problems at that time, as the Greeks did in the field of science and politics. This is because the Phoenicians love trade, the power of wealth, friendship and peace.
From the idea of the Phoenicians’ parliament in the city of Tripolis – Tripoli (in today’s Lebanon), the love of science among the Greeks, and their interest in it, the idea of democracy was born in the brains of the geniuses of their philosophers and they built the awesome Parthenon for the sake of democracy in Athens.
Democracy
Democracy was born in Greece by the hands of their geniuses and the beautiful ancient Parthenon was built on a high hill in the capital Athens. The ruins of its construction are still present today. It is a symbol of democracy, a pilgrimage to visitors from all over the Earth and a wonderful piece of art from ancient Greek architecture.
The world should respect and preserve that building and democracy.
Democracy always remains a first glimpse of the mental and psychological awareness necessary for the social building and developing of the human being and the homeland. It is defeating the views of despotic peoples in their unfair laws and regulations against humanity, as well as those promoting slavery, abuse and injustice. It is a means of understanding, openness, ties between peoples and a fixed stone in the corner of building politics and even in a door, building peace!
It is to give the individual, regardless of his/her colour, religion, race and form, the role of expressing her/his opinion and the opportunity to build liberty, justice, brotherhood and peace within the elevated laws and regulations for the universal victory of humanity.
The person who rejects democracy is a person with a limited mind, tyranny and mistrust that does not want openness and progress. It is against humanity, human beings and God!
The United Nations should designate a Day of Democracy, which celebrates with the free sophisticated democratic world its birthday annually, encourages and works to develop it especially in countries that are still living in delay, fear, closure, backwardness, injustice and arbitrariness away from intellectual openness.
Democracy is the platform for liberation from anomalous ideas that involve fanaticism, blind habits, one opinion and ideology that is imbued with deviation that reflects on peoples the failure of values, terrorism, fear, racism, injustice, tyranny and failure. Democracy is the spirit of emancipation and the voice of liberty with respectable high moral limits.
A parliament without democracy for free debate, to create advanced legislation and laws necessary to build a healthy society, provide rights and the safety of the homeland, is a place kidnapped by a gang of one tyrannical opinion against the rights, the freedom of the citizens and the homeland.
A nation without democracy is a country without liberty and respect, closed in on itself and does not advance in life. It lives in oppression, tyranny, ambiguity, bribery, deviation and danger, with no hope for its success and the survival of its regime. It is destined for failure, defeat and dissolution.
